Sports personalities who are  making our ‘city beautiful’ shine on global level Their hours of
 dedication pays off , & they are indeed inspiration to many.We, would narrate their struggles.
 For them playground is their ‘home’. They even climbed ,one step at a time , even when no 
one was looking. They are still climbing one step at a time, when nobody is looking.

Here begins our list of sports personalities in chandigarh:

AADIL BEDI: When  Harinder Bedi , an amature golfer himself- introduced his little
 annoying son  to the game at the tom & jerry watching age ,little did he and his busy wife 
knew that their son was destined to rule the greens! His 150 medals in over 230 tournaments 
across the globe  are apt testify that.
With Byman charges a staggering $200 for half an hour, but the figure doesn't deter the Bedi 
household, whose common goal now is to see their prodigal son play the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

SHUBMAN GILL better known as the slayer of Pakistan and fondly
 remembered for his splendid performance against Pakistan in the semi finals of 
ICC Under -19 World Cup for that  he bagged the man of the match award.His 
story is same like many other, whose  father saw his dream becoming reality through nipped his 
cricketing dreams in the bud due to some reason or other and one day his dream sees the light
 of the day whenhis son hits great shots &  ‘he’ becomes his first coach. Same was the initial
 days of Shubhman and his father.Nothing has deserted his family from fulfilling his dream nor
 even the family’s move to 300 km away from their paternal village. He all mentally prepared to
 replicate his performance at IPL as he selected by Kolkata Knight Riders for a jaw dropping 3.2
 crore.

AMJYOT SINGH : 6” chandigarh lad  who was the reason for the major face lift of Indian
 basketball by becoming the first Indian citizen to get drafted into the final roster of an NBA G
 League side directly from the draft process.
Injury and boredom had driven Gill away from cricket as a youngster, and taking cue from his
 father—Mohinder Singh played basketball—he switched over to basketball at the age of 16.
“I don’t remember the last time I celebrated a birthday at home. Or been with family during any 
of the festivals,” says Gill. “All those sacrifices are slowly starting to pay off.”
Gill is the second Indian to be drafted into a G-league team and the third to make a splash in 
the US basketball scene.He is one of the sports personalities in chandigarh who is making

SARAH KASHYAP: The perks of the job put her in a position where mountains, rivers and 
motorcycles are all part of daily living. Sarah now holds the distinction of being the first ever
 woman to complete one of the toughest endurance races in the country, the Raid de Himalaya 
in the 17 yearssince its inception.Kashyap who first tried her hand riding a bike when her brother 
taunted her about her height and girls riding a bike. “Later he was the one who taught me how to 
ride a bike.It is because of her efforts that the sport personalities of chandigarh is proudly 
putting chandigarh on global biking map.
CHAHAT ARORA:Chahat started swimming at the age of five on seeing her elder brother Sparsh
 Arora train in Sector 23, she grabbed  the headlines when she became gold medalist in 50 M 
breaststroke in school nationals in 2009. she became the first swimmer from Chandigarh to win 
thegold medal in women’s 100 M breaststroke event.retained the 100m breaststroke title in
 1:15.19s to break A. V.Jayaveena’s 1:16.25 set in 2015.She is one of the great sport 
personalities in chandigarh.
