Chahat Arora: Once a water baby now an Olympian dreamer
We recount her journey from setting a national record in ‘17 by retaining the 100m breaststroke title in 1:15.19s to break A. V. Jayaveena’s 1:16.25 set in 2015 & the road ahead…...
She is no more 4 year old who loved being in the water for the sheer fun of it, she is now a confident teenage who dreams big of being a gold medal olympian!
Her passion is clearly visible when she makes ripple, from the time when she she first hit the headlines after winning the gold medal in 50 M breaststroke in school nationals in 2009 after that 100 won in the different state events followed.
LiFE LESS ORDINARY
For ordinary it might be the good reason to rest on her laurel but for it is further honing her forte: breaststroke as she won most of her medals, including the three junior Nationals bronze and five National School Games medals (one gold, and two silver and bronze each), under this swimming style.
What is not to be seen on her proud face is the sheer amount of dedication, as is always up by around 5am & then leaves for the training centre and one more session follows in the evening , vacations mean train harder as her training extends up to three hours in both morning and evenings.
Couldn’t have been possible without
:“Whatever I have achieved today is all due to my family’s support and blessings of my coaches. A big part of my success goes to them,” says the hard working & strong willed student of Punjab University.
